The wage subsidy program is a win-win opportunity for job seekers and employers. Job seekers benefit from paid work placements while employers receive a wage subsidy to support on-the-job training for their new employee.
For clients, basic eligibility for services is determined by:
- having an active EI claim or establishing an EI claim, or
- having received EI within the last 3 years (regular benefits) or
- having received EI within the past 5 years (maternity/parental benefits)
In addition you must be lacking work experience or on-the-job skills that can be met through the program.
If you meet the requirements for wage subsidy, you will work with a Case Manager to develop a personal employment plan that includes individual job search activities and promoting the wage subsidy to local employers. Once you have secured a position, we will negotiate the wage subsidy with your new employer.
It is the goal of the wage subsidy program to result in sustainable long-term employment for participants. To that end we are seeking employers who sincerely want to invest in training and on-the-job development for participants.
